Members of the Gold family in  Himmelfporten, Germany.
I met Karsten, the husband and father, on a train from Berlin to Hamburg.
He was a soldier in the East German army when the Berlin Wall fell: November 9, 1989. Karsten invited me to the family's home for a delicious meal. Prior to the children's bedtime story, we looked at a globe to view the locations
of Germany and the
United States.
